- J. Robert Mershon, age 91, of Atlanta, Georgia died on November 24, 2019.
Bob was very active in his community, as an officer of his Temple and a two-time president of the local B'nai B'rith lodge. Bob was also very committed to local charities devoting hours to many fundraising efforts.
Bob's career started in his family business, Mershon Tanning, later renamed Mershon Leather, which provided finished cowhides to leather product producers.
In 1967, Bob joined Investors Diversified Services, later American Express Financial Advisors, as a Financial Consultant. Throughout most of his long career with IDS and American Express Financial Advisors, Bob was recognized as one of their top producers, as well as being one of the first inductees into their hall of fame.
Survivors include his wife, Helene Mershon; sons, Mark (Gale) Mershon, Jay (Alison) Mershon and Ric Mershon; daughter, Rhonda Jarman; grandchildren, Corey Mershon, Amanda (Kent) Johnson, Samuel (Chrissy) Mershon, Jake Mershon, Mara Mershon; and great-grandchildren, Riley and Colby Johnson, and Kai Mershon. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Mollie and Ben Mershon memorial fund at Temple Emanu-El in Haverhill, MA, (978) 373-3861. A graveside funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, November 26, 2019 at Green Lawn Cemetery, 950 Mansell Road, Roswell GA 30076 with Rabbi Shuval-Weiner officiating.
