S. Charles "Chuck"'s Story
S. Charles “Chuck” Katsaros, 86, formerly of Haverhill, passed away January 12, 2017 unexpectedly and peacefully in Furstenfeld, Austria. He was born, July 27, 1930 to the late Helen and Spiros Katsaros of Haverhill, Mass.
Chuck was preceded in death by his wife, Inge of Furstenfeld; sisters Ann K. Ziehl and Madeline K. Alphas, brothers, Sotiris “Sot” Katsaros (former Haverhill High School principal), and George “Kay” Katsaros, former Mayor of Haverhill.
He is survived by his brother, John Katsaros and his wife, Mary of Haverhill, and several cousins, nephews and nieces.
Chuck received his Bachelor of Communications and Master of Education degrees from Boston University.
Chuck was proficient in several languages, especially German and Greek. He was a world traveler who loved to read, ski, play golf, tennis, swim and Boston sports.
Chuck retired as a Sergeant from the U.S. Army, a Communication Officer in the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA); High school teacher and later also job placement director, both at the U.S. Air Force Base at Augsburg, Germany.
Funeral services will be announced. Interment will follow at the Furstenfeld Cemetery, Austria.
