Reginald L.'s Story
Reginald Lawrence Ashford, Jr., age 76, longtime resident of Merrimac, passed away at Anna Jaques Hospital in Newburyport on Friday evening, March 31, 2017, with his family at his side.
Born in Haverhill on October 16, 1940, he was one of four children of the late Reginald L. Ashford, Sr. and Annette (Goulet) Ashford and was a graduate of Haverhill Trade School, Class of 1959.
As a skilled auto mechanic, Reginald retired from Jim How Chevrolet in Newton, N.H., as their longtime, well-respected, service manager.
He leaves behind the love of his life, his wife of 56 years, (shy by 8 days), Judith A. (Henry) Ashford; his son, Reginald L. Ashford, III, and wife Diane; his daughter, Belinda Latham and husband William; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren who were his pride and joy; his sister, Betty Young and husband Ora; his two brothers, Richard and David Ashford, along with several generations of nieces and nephews, extended family members and dear friends.
Always remember that he loved his family and friends, that he lived his life to its fullest, and that he has embarked on his next journey, hoping it will be as rewarding as the one he left behind.
By his request, there will be no services. Simply remember the legacy of his life and continue to share his memories with those he loved so dearly. Arrangements were by Paul C. Rogers Family Funeral Home, 36 West Main Street, Merrimac.
