Msgr. James E.'s Story
Msgr. James E. Tierney, 92, passed away September 2, 2017 at his Regina Cleri residence. He was born April 29, 1925, son of the late John A. and Ethel (Duffy) Tierney, of Melrose. He grew up in the city attending Melrose Public Schools and graduated from High School in 1943. He was the brother of the late John A. Tierney, Jr. and his sister, Helen M. DeCoste, also of Melrose. He is survived by a niece, Marie Grazulis of Virginia and her son, Jeffrey Grazulis of New Hampshire.
His calling hours were held on Tuesday at Sacred Hearts Church, Bradford. His Funeral Mass of Christian Burial was held on Wednesday at Sacred Hearts Church with Cardinal Sean Patrick O’Malley presiding. Interment followed in the Elmwood Cemetery, Bradford. Arrangements are by the H.L. Farmer & Sons Funeral Homes, Bradford – Haverhill. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to Sacred Hearts Parish, 48 So.
