HAVERHILL: Mildred I. (Tobey) Sanborn, 95, a lifelong resident of Groveland, passed away peacefully, Thursday evening, December 17, at Penacook Place in Haverhill.
Mrs. Sanborn was born in Groveland on May 5, 1920, the daughter of the late Sumner W. and Carrie M. (Abbott) Tobey.
She was educated in the Groveland school system and graduated from Groveland High School with the class of 1938.
Two husbands, Kenneth Smith and Charles Sanborn, a son, Brian C. Smith, her brothe,r Sumner and her sister, Kay, predeceased her.
Mrs. Sanborn is survived by her sons, Michael S. Smith and his wife, Janice of Concord, N.H. and Karl G. Smith and his wife, Paula of Groveland; six grandchildren, Gary Smith, David Smith, Aaron Smith, Jennie Leavitt, Nicole Adams and Jeremiah Smith, many great-grandchildren, several great-great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews. Her close friend, Dorothy Mills also survives her.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Dec. 22, at the H.L. Farmer and Sons Bradford Funeral Home, 210 South Main St. (Route 125), Bradford. A visitation period preceded the funeral. Burial followed in Riverview Cemetery, Groveland. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Mildred’s memory to the charity of the donor's choice.
