May's Story

ANDOVER: May Rita “Marie” (Cote) Bernard, 81, of Andover went home to God surrounded by her loving family on January 20, 2016 at Lahey Medical Center in Burlington.

She was born in South Lawrence on Jan. 3, 1935, daughter of the late Joseph L. and Valentine (Poulin) Cote.

She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Joseph Leo Bernard; her daughter, Betty and her husband, Roger Desjardins of Andover; her grandchildren, Christopher Bernard Desjardins and his wife, Zoe Vasconcellos Hastings and Catherine Rose Fay and her husband, Patrick Joseph; as well as many brothers and sisters–in-law, nieces, nephews and friends. She was also the sister of the late Cecile Guy, Doris Godin and Jacqueline Molonowski.

Her calling hours were held Jan. 25, at St. Augustine Church, Andover. Her Funeral Mass of Christian Burial was Jan. 26 the church. Interment will be private in St. Augustine Cemetery, Andover.
