WEST SPRINGFIELD, MA: Marilyn B. (Blethen) Newton, 88, died Friday, February 26th at home. She was born in Methuen, daughter of the late Raymond and Marion (Jones) Blethen. She grew up in Haverhill, graduated from Haverhill High School in 1945 and has lived in West Springfield for many years.
She was a Rainbow Girl and a longtime member of Mittineague Congregational Church. Marilyn loved her Boston Red Sox.
She was predeceased by her husband, Frank A. Newton Jr. and her brother, Raymond Blethen Jr. A devoted mother and wife, she leaves three sons, Eric Kennedy of Boston, Alan Kennedy (Laurie) of Blue Bell, Pa. and Paul R. Kennedy of Chicopee; a daughter, Jane Kennedy-Tenzar (Henry) of West Springfield; a brother, Arnold J. Blethen of N. Conway, N.H.; two grandchildren, Michael Kennedy and Justin Kennedy, a niece and a nephew, her former husband, Pierre Kennedy of Farmington, Conn. and many longtime good friends in West Springfield and Haverhill.
Her funeral service was held on Wednesday, March 2, at West Springfield Curran-Jones Funeral Home followed by burial in Elmwood Cemetery in Bradford. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
