LACONIA, NH: Marie S. Austin of Laconia, N.H., passed away April 4, 2015 at Lakes Region General Hospital, surrounded by family. She was born in Lowell, Mass., daughter of Sarah and Harold Smith. Marie was a graduate of Burdett College in Boston.
Marie and her husband, Lawrence, lived in Bradford for many years where they raised two children, Judith and Kenneth. A loving wife and mother, Marie was also an avid member of the Haverhill Garden Club, and worked as a substitute teacher.
Larry and Marie moved to a lakeside home in Laconia in 1994 and enjoyed an active life together traveling around the USA and abroad whenever the mood struck. She especially loved to swim, read, and dote on her two wonderful granddaughters, Katy and Sarah. Marie was a devout member of the Laconia First Congregational Church.
Marie will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Her sister, Dorcas Smith Krussell, predeceased her earlier this year. Her loving and devoted survivors include her husband of 57 years, Lawrence; daughter, Judith Voishnis of Barnegat, N.J.; son, Kenneth and wife, Lynn of Brentwood, N.H.; granddaughters, Kathryn and husband, Ryan of Forked River, N.J. and Sarah of Barnegat, N.J.
