After his retirement, Joe found community at the Sacred Hearts Church in Bradford and was a volunteer for the food pantry.

Joe loved the outdoors and summer vacations in the White Mountains along the Swift River, Glen Ellis, and in North Conway. He was also fond of escaping the snow and traveling to Florida, spending winter in a mobile home. He was an avid Red Sox fan, enjoyed visiting casinos, and loved attending all the events of his younger family members. Joe had a big heart and enjoyed connecting with people.
