Joseph A.'s Story
Joseph A. “Joe” Gogas, longtime resident of Plaistow, N.H., but recently residing at Haverhill Crossings, Haverhill, passed away Wednesday, June 14, 2017.
Born in Haverhill on June 19, 1929, he was the son of the late George S. and Mary B. (Collins) Gogas.
He was a graduate of St. James High School in Haverhill, where he was a member of the football team.
Joe served in the military with the U.S. Army, after which he began his career with Western Electric, where he worked as an auditor in the quality control department for many years until his retirement. He was a member of the Plaistow Fish and Game Club and greatly enjoyed hunting and fishing, visiting with family and friends, and especially working in his vegetable garden.
Joe is survived by a son, Joseph A. Gogas of Toronto; a brother, George M. Gogas, Sr.; and a sister, Anna E. Gogas, both of Haverhill; and many beloved nieces and nephews. Joe was predeceased by his wife, Pauline (Dufour-Connors) Gogas; his sisters, Frances J. (Gogas) McGrath, Kathleen T. Gogas, and Mary M. Gogas; and a brother, William G. Gogas.
A private burial service took place at St. James Cemetery, Primrose Street, Haverhill, and a Mass will be offered on July 16, 2017 at 5 p.m. in St. James Church, Winter Street, Haverhill.
