John T. Boyd, of Port Orange, FL, passed away on August 18, after a brief illness. "Jocko," as he was known to his friends, was born in Lowell in 1938, and, after service in the U.S. Army, embarked on a career with Raytheon as a missile engineer. This proved to be a nearly four decade-long adventure that involved living and traveling extensively throughout Asia, the Middle East, the U.S., and Europe. He and his wife retired to Central Florida in 1995, and he divided his time between his family, hunting and fishing in his native New England, and playing Daytona Senior Softball.
He was predeceased by his parents, John and Mary; and his brothers, Dennis and Frank. He is survived by Sang, his beloved wife of 48 years, Garrick; his devoted son; Barbara, his sister; his nieces and nephews, Kelly, Jeffrey, Kevin, and Sara; and numerous family and friends, both here and abroad.
