MERRIMAC: John J. BirBeck, 86, of Merrimac, died Thursday morning, April 30, at the Merrimack Valley Hospice House, Haverhill.
He was born in Carbondale, Pa., April 14, 1929, son of the late John M. and Ruth E. (Ryder) BirBeck and was educated there.
From 1947 to 1950 he served in the United States Coast Guard.
Mr. BirBeck was employed as a Class A Machinist at the former Haverhill Paperboard and Natick Paperboard.
He enjoyed golfing, landscaping his home and cherished time spent with his family and attending all types of family functions.
His survivors include his wife of 66 years, Beverly E. (Clough) BirBeck of Merrimac; three daughters, Beverly E. Duffy and her husband, Paul of Alton, N.H., Jackie R. Shaboo and her significant other, Buddy Lemoine of Kingston, N.H., Linda D. Robinson of Allenstown, N.H.; three sisters, Ruth McNett of Arkansas, Esther Rees of Missouri, Sandra Leichliter of Iowa; four grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, a son-in-law, Dennis Robinson of Allenstown, N.H., and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were private with burial in Linwood Cemetery, Haverhill. Arrangements were by the H.L. Farmer & Sons Funeral Homes and Cremation Service, Haverhill & Bradford.
