James D.'s Story
James D. Drewett, 86, of Bradford, died Monday evening, April 3, at the Kaplan House, Danvers.
He was born in Haverhill, July 27, 1930, son of the late James T. and Cicely (Dowell) Drewett.
Educated in the Haverhill school system, Mr. Drewett graduated from Haverhill High School.
During the Korean War he served as an Aviation Radar Operator for the United States Navy.
Upon being honorably discharged, he began a 30 year career as a systems support specialist for IBM, from where he retired. After retiring, he served in the same capacity for Lahey Clinic for six years.
An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, clay target shooting and was a two time state skeet shooting champion.
He was the husband of the late Eleanor (Bakarensky) Drewett, who died in 2011 and father of the late Paul D. Drewett, who died March 25.
His survivors include a son, James Drewett and his wife, Shelley and their son, Tommy and a daughter, Margot Drewett, all of Haverhill; a brother, Ian “Mike” Drewett of Florida; and a daughter-in-law, Dorothy Taylor of Bradford.
Funeral services will be private and at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are by the H.L. Farmer & Sons Funeral Homes and Cremation Service, Haverhill and Bradford.
