SALEM, OR: Harlan Farnham Reynolds, Jr., died on his 85th birthday, of pancreatic cancer at his home in Salem, Oregon. He was born in Haverhill, the oldest child of Harlan F. Reynolds, Sr., and Edva (Blanchard) Reynolds.
After graduating Haverhill High School in 1948 he joined the United States Navy on his way to a 20-year military career in the Navy and the United States Air Force.
When he retired from the military, he earned a B.S. and an MBA from Oregon State University. Harlan then began a 13 year career with the United States Treasury Department as a federal tax auditor.
Harlan's retirement years were spent traveling the world several times over. He was also a lifetime member of Mensa.
Harlan was preceded in death by his parents and Elsie (Johnson), his wife of 43 years. He is survived by the second love of his life, Peggy Heitkemper of Salem, Oregon. He is also survived by two sisters, Donna Migliori (Anthony) of Salem, N.H. and Gail Reynolds (Connie Schlotterbeck), of Wayland, Mass.; his four children, four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Internment will be at Arlington National Cemetery, Washington, D.C, with full military honors.
