George was born December 5, 1927 in Lynn, Mass., a son of George and May Eola (Bourbeau). He attended the Lynn Public Schools, and after leaving school he enlisted in the U.S. Coast Guard and served his country in the Pacific Fleet during WWII. George was a passionate woodworker, he was very artistic, working in portrait painting and photography. He also loved to garden and landscape. He enjoyed his Red Sox baseball and watching the Patriots play and win. He was extremely generous and kindhearted, and was a communicant of St. Mary's Church in Canaan.
He is predeceased by a brother Ernie and a sister, Lauretta.
George will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his two daughters, Lynne A. Murray and her husband, William Amaral of Canaan, and Gale E. Murray and her husband, Bill Wanner, also of Canaan; three grandchildren: Daniel Cheney, Jared Cheney, and Hayley Blinn; and one great-granddaughter, Layla Murray.
No funeral or memorial services will be held. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the Canaan Town Library or the Canaan Senior Citizens Center. There will be a celebration of George's life held at a later date.
