George H Gould, Jr.


Springfield, Vermont - George H. Gould, Jr., 80, a resident of Springfield since 2015, and formerly of Haverhill, Mass., passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 29, 2019 at Sterling House in Bellows Falls, Vermont. Although he did not want an obituary, here goes.
He was born in Haverhill on August 5, 1938, a son of George H. and Barbara D. (Smith) Gould, and attended Haverhill schools. He served in , and was Honorably discharged from the United States Air Force. He was an Aircraft Mechanic with the 513th Fighter Interceptor Squadron at Phalsbourg-Bourscheid Air Base in France.
Mr. Gould was employed in maintenance at the Greater Haverhill YMCA for many years retiring in 1998. He previously worked in the construction industry, Western Electric in North Andover, Youngblood Plumbing, United Way, and Hillside Cemetery. He also volunteered as a driver for the United Way for several years.
Survivors include four sons, Steven Gould of Haverhill; George Gould and his wife, Heather of McConnells, South Carolina; Timothy Gould and his wife, Michelle of Springfield, Vt.; and Brian Gould and his wife, Maegan of Haverhill; his daughter, Suzanne Gould of Easthampton, Mass.; three sisters, Nancy Merritt of Port Charlotte, Florida, Janice Donohue of Tampa, Florida and Barbara Guevin of Dallas, Texas; 6 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son, Scott Gould of Haverhill and by two brothers, Francis & Lewis.
