Ernest J.'s Story
Ernest J. Cassidy, 90, of Haverhill and formerly of Chelsea, died Sunday, June 18, at the Merrimack Valley Hospice House, Haverhill.
He was born in Ashland, Maine, August 24, 1926, son of the late Thomas and Alice (Gagnon) Cassidy.
During the Korean War he served in the United States Army where he received a Purple Hear and a Korean Service Medal with two Bronze Stars.
Mr. Cassidy moved to Haverhill in 2004.
He was the husband of the late Gloria A. (Bernier) Cassidy who died in 2014 and father of the late Patricia Lewicki.
His survivors include a daughter, Gail M. Gregoire of Haverhill, a son, Ronald J. Cassidy of Haverhill; a grandson, Eric B. Gregoire and his wife, Katie J. of Haverhill and two great-grandsons, Ryan and Jackson Gregoire as well as several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend his calling hours on Friday, June 23, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the H.L. Farmer & Sons Funeral Home, 106 Summer St., Haverhill. His funeral will be held on Saturday morning, June 24 beginning at 9 a.m. at the funeral home, followed by a Funeral Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Sacred Hearts Church, So.
