SANBORNVILLE N.H.: Donald L. Dodge, 86, of Sanbornville, N.H., passed away on January 20, 2016, peacefully in his sleep.
Don was born in Beverly, Mass to Albert & Melvina Dodge on January 9, 1930. He graduated from Beverly High School in 1947, Boston University in 1953 and was a member of the Phi Sigma Kappa Fraternity, and also received his Master’s degree from BU in 1961. He taught science in Saugus (58-60) and Melrose (60-90) School Districts. Don retired as a Major from the U.S. Army Reserves in 1991. He also refereed basketball and football for various school districts in Northeast Massachusetts and taught skiing at Boston Hill Ski Area, N. Andover, Ragged Mtn, and Brettonwoods, N.H.
Don is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Albert and Carlton, and sister, Blanche. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Beverly Grant Dodge; sister, Dorothy (Dodge) Maciejowski; daughter, Pamela (David) Rooney of Kansas City, Mo.; son, Dana Dodge of Albuquerque, N.M.; two grandchildren, Christopher (Melanie) Rooney of Kansas City, and Jaci (Alex) Mullins of Franklin, Tenn.; one great-grandson, Grant T. Rooney and future great-grandson, Scout T. Mullins. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Research and Prevention Foundation at donatenow.networkforgood.org/AlzheimersPrevention. The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the Wolfeboro Bay Center and Solana Unit for the exceptional care and loving support given to Don during his long-term stay.
The graveside service will be held on June 18, 2016 at Woodman Village Cemetery, East Wakefield, N.H. Minister Jack Daniels will officiate. A celebration of life will follow the service.
