HAVERHILL - Celia (Gioka) Kotis, 93, of Haverhill passed away February 26th at her daughter's residence.
She was born in Clinton, Mass. on Sept. 17, 1924, daughter of the late William and Chrisi (Relias) Gioka.
Celia was educated in Clinton, graduating from Clinton High School Class of1943. She was employed at Lucent technologies for many years until her retirement in 1989.
She was a member of the Holy Apostles Sts. Peter & Paul Greek Orthodox Church in Haverhill, as well as a member of the Ladies Philoptochos Society. She was also a longtime member of the Daughters of Penelope where she was a past District Marshall.
Celia was the beloved wife of the late George N. Kotis, who passed away in 1991 and is survived by her loving children Nicholas G. Kotis of Plaistow, NH, Chrisi K. and her husband, E. Philip Brown of Haverhill, and John G. Kotis of Tampa, Fla.; her daughter-in-law Laurie Kotis. She is also survived by her cherished grandsons, Zachary G. and Daniel E. Brown; as well as many cousins, nephews, and godchildren. She also leaves behind her dear cousin Kathleen, "Poppy" Paul with whom she resided in Tyngsboro over the last 5 years. She was the sister of the late Rose Nikitas of Fitchburg, Helen Gioka and Ethel G. Martines of Haverhill.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the calling hours on Friday, March 2nd from 4 to 7 p.m. at the H.L. Farmer & Sons Funeral Home, 106 Summer St. Haverhill. Her funeral will be held on Saturday, March 3rd beginning at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home followed by a Funeral Service at 11:30 am in the Holy Apostles Church, 154 Winter St. Haverhill. Interment will be in Linwood Cemetery. Contributions may be made to the Holy Apostles Greek Orthodox Church 154 Winter St. Haverhill, MA 01830 or to St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church, 132 School Street Clinton, MA 01510.
