Bridget, born in Georgetown, Mass., on August 21, 1939, was the daughter of the late Everett and Mary (Coppola) Cheney. She grew up in Haverhill and graduated from Haverhill High School in 1958. After high school, she enlisted in the United States Air Force where she served until 1959 when she was Honorably Discharged. Bridget also served in the United States Air Force Reserves from 1973 to 1978 and went on to earn a degree in Social Services from Salem State College. She worked as a Tax Examiner for the Internal Revenue Service, from where she would eventually retire. She enjoyed reading, traveling to Ireland and Irish music.
Bridget is survived by her children, Ronald Kerrigan of Haverhill, Mass., Sherri Kerrigan of Stuart, Fla., Shawn Kerrigan of Haverhill, Mass., Staci Hiergesell and her husband, Edward of Trappe, Pa., Kelly Kerrigan of Hampton, N.H., and Shannon Pettis and her husband, Vincent of Haverhill, Mass. She was a loving “Nana” to her grandchildren, Victoria Pettis, Jena Lloyd, Brett Pettis, Jacob Pettis, Jonathan Kerrigan, Samantha Hiergesell and Suzanna Hiergesell. She leaves behind her twin sister, June Provencher of Peabody, Mass.; a sister, Patricia Zappala of Groveland, Mass.; and a brother, Richard Cheney of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.
A Funeral Mass will be held at St. John’s the Baptist Church in Haverhill, Mass., on May 12 at 10 a.m.
